Elizabeth Thorin Ph.D.
Dr. Thorin is committed to activities that expand the choice and community of people with developmental disabilities.
Her work focuses on issues of self-determination, self-advocacy and serving the needs of parents with cognitive limitations. Elizabeth received her Ph.D. in Rehabilitation Research from the University of Oregon in 1984. For twenty years she has worked as a researcher and consultant in Lane County, Oregon, designing and implementing a program of services to parents with cognitive limitations, and supporting self-determination activities and programs.
As an advisor to People First of Eugene, she is dedicated to providing self-advocates with opportunities to speak for themselves and take control of their lives. Dr. Thorin is currently working on additional staff training video modules that will further the development of opportunities for self-determination.
